I dont like Rec2Rec's with a Twist - Like all novelties, something with a "twist" becomes tiresome and shortly after, one realises is actually inefficient...
I like to know that the rec2rec working on my behalf has a proven track record, either before rec2rec or since being in rec2rec... When I say proven track record, I specifically mean big billers - the OMB's are a prefered choice because they typically fall into this category.
What I dont like is someone who is either a newbie, or someone who doesnt have much experience in the general rec to rec market, or a specialist market - typically, these are the ones who do start up desks "with a twist"
When I first speak to a rec2rec, I give them an interrogation. Why? (a) because good, fee generating, new business developers are hard to come by - I know we are a scarse resource. (b) I know the companies I want you to approach, what I need is someone who is intelligent enough to manage / negotiate the offer porcess (be the bad cop so to speak) (c) someone who talks intelligently, and can answer, or find out answers to all my questions, and also,
My last move, took me approx 2-3 weeks hard work to find the relavent rec2rec who would do what I wanted and needed them to do.... Ones that sell themselves as "rec2rec with a twist" or try and say "we actually listen to you" or populate their website with loads of bogus referals" dont even get a call!!!

OK - thanks. good feedback - so what you're telling me is that as a big biller, you want to deal with a commercially aware, candidate focussed recruiter with a good track record of working in a vertical market who is well placed to find you the move you want... and the message I'm getting is not to try to re-invent the wheel here... just provide a better quality service than others.
Floor's open guys - any other likes or dislikes about rec2rec's in general??
Cheers

richard if you do what twisted said you will be billing in no time.
A good consultant is a great asset once he is in the seat, but he ca't be too arrogant during the interview process and that is why he needs someone to play the "bad" cop for him. just do the job you are supposed to do and you should not have a problem. Rec2Rec's should not treat consultants as regular candidtates. They know all the lies, and have spewed them all as well. just be honest with them and you have a caniddate for life. |
