Mitch, that is exactly right.
The problem with sites like LinkedIn for professionals that need to network for their role, is that their details are highly visible and they need to be easily accessible. There is no need to use recruiters for those types of positions, whether that be a recruiter, busines deveopment manager etc.
Recruitment for guys in IT or accountancy or other professions that do not require the need to build up a network of contacts are not really effected by sites like LinkedIn. Some are on LinkedIn, many aren't.
I would have to bet that virtually every recruiter in the UK is on LinkedIn and would be easily contactable to any recruitment agency looking to hire. |

I have to agree with the above posts, Linked-in is a great place for recruiters to be to find business and get approached regarding career opportunities. I've only been using it for a few weeks now, but have already been approached 4 times leading to 3 job offers so far. The fact that there are no high fees leaves me with higher than normal offers and saves end user clients money, and lets face it, professional recruiters are being used by their employers to find new staff, only the recruiters actually work directly for the end client and cost a lot less!
I'd also like to state that finding work via linked-in does not involve having to attend pointless interviews with Rec2Rec companies who really don't have a clue how to interview - instead you find yourself dealing directly with the client and therefor in a far better position to make a sound decision, without having a clueless rec2rec consultant pushing you to make a decision based on them getting a fee. |
