Hello

I urgently require recruitment training Books / DVDs I wondered if anyone had excellent results or experience with a particular product.

I have so far been recommended Tony bryne 30 Steps in the placement process and Steve Finkel book and DVD the The Art of Recruiting.
I wondered if there were others worth looking at

I would really appreciate any ideas. Especially if anyone had 2nd hand copies of any of the above for sale.

Many thanks

I would also recommend Dean Gollings, worked with him a few years back. Old school but a very good trainer.

The recruitment juice DVD's are good for training purposes - I have seen most of them and very comprehensive, relevant and easy to use.

Can also try Recruitment Matters - they run training courses and seminars - www.recruitmentmatters.com - Warren Kemp

Good Luck and Happy New year!

Alex

I have just set up a site which has an online store dedicated to the HR industry - you may find something you need there.

The site is www.hrhotspot.com

It's a work in progress but the store is fully operational - hope this helps.

John;
I don't visit here often, and have just noted your question. The reason your original research led you to two top US trainers (though Mr Byrne has passed away) is that the UK market is not really large enough (among professional-level recruitment firms) to develop optimally-skilled and experienced trainers. The US market is simply much larger, more competitive and more sophisticated, thus resulting in far better quality .

In any case, beyond the excellent DVD series you originally referenced, you should go to AmazonUS, and review two highly effective books, one the 2008 edtion of Breakthrough, the other by he and noted US trainer Larry Nobles.

There should be sufficient information there to enable you to come to a conclusion. The material is highly appropriate to a UK market.

John,

Lately my firm here in the U.S. has used alot of material from a gentleman named Scott Love.

We like him because he can reach people on all different levels....from the new recruiter to the Sales/Recruitment Manager.

His website is www.scottlove.com. The latest program that we used was entitled "No Limit Recruiting" if I'm not mistaken.

He also has alot of free tools available on his website which is especially good for newer recruiters.

I hope this helps. Best of luck!

Jason

At the risk of being accused of 'advertising' (although as everyone knows unless you're JK Rowling you make no money out of books!) could I throw my book into the ring as a potential support for new (and more expereinced actually) recruiters? The UKHRD of the second largest staffing company said recently she 'wished she'd had this when she came into the industry' - it's called 'The Professional Recruiter's Guide' delivering excellence in recruitment practice' and is aimed at both in-house and external recruiters - I co-authored it with Ann Swain. You can find it on Amazon where is seems to have been selling relatively well!

The trainers sugested through the thread above however also offer a great range of expertise and knowledge and I guess it depends upon what you are looking for in a book or resources -ours tries to take a broader look at the role and is less wholly focussed on sales whilst still recognising there is a need for strong persuasion and infuencing skills in any recruiter. But it's just one possibility in your learning programme. Whatever route you have chosen - good luck!
