Hi Hugh - are you for real?
Before you go off and start this business you might want to consider what value you will be adding to clients/candidates. You're talking about entering one of the most competitive areas in a market sector which in itself is hugley competitive. IMHO anyone new with no experience who is only willing to work part time is kidding themselves it they think they can earn £45k in year 1 and expect to see YoY increases thereafter. For a start you seem to be pretty naive in asking a question as basic as "how many calls should I expect to make?"
My advice is stick with you're doing. |

Hi Hugh
Have to agree with deadcatbounce, don't enter unless you are willing to work bloody hard and 45k in year 1 you would need to bill 160-200k for an agency to pay you that. YoY increases would depending on expanding your business and developing a team underneath you.
With respect to calls it's the quality not the quantity ;) |

Hugh,
I would suggest that you look for a recruitment company that has an excellent reputation in the market place in this sector and invests in the training and development of its people. There is more to this role that meets the eye and to offer a quality service to your customers, in order to gain repeat long term business and a healthy income, you will need to gain best practice skills in the key competencies required for the job. A good organisation and an excellent line manager and coach will enable you to fast track to the top - if you have the inclination and passion to succeed. |

Hi Hugh
I don't know how far down the road you are with your business plan but i would suggest you consider the following - do you need a website and will you require a hosting facility? What job boards will you need access to? Will you operate as a sole trader or limited company? What rercrutment software will you require? etc
i could add more to this list but as you can see the expense of setting up your business infrastructure is potentially costly.
When setting up my business I was fortunate enough to stumble across a business incubator specialising in setting up recruitment consultancies who provided a comprehensive service (and still support me now) at a fraction of the cost than if i'd gone it alone.
As other subscribers have indicated, recruitment can potentially be financially lucrative but you are considering entering a very 'hard' market which, with all due respect, you have no recruitment experience in.
Best of luck
Nick
