Hi. Have been doing some market research about the future shape of the recruitment industry and I have read conflicting reports about whether generalists or niche/specialists will hold the lions share of the future purse.

Most reports cite the retirement of baby boomers around 2010/11 as a real crisis point in terms of loss of labour and knowledge from the workforce. This would indicate market will remain candidate driven even if the economy takes a turn for the worse.

Employers are endeavouring to recruit direct and the trend in on line recruitment/offshoring and RPO looks set to continue.

Many recruitment agencies are themselves experiencing problems in attracting and retaining staff.

So, will we see a rationalisation/polarisation of the market or is the future bright (orange) for all?
