Is there anyone that can suggest a good place to find information about Statutory Sick Pay and payment of this to temps.

From looking at the DWP website it would appear that potentially someone could start a role, go on sick half-way through their first day of work and then claim SSP for the next 22 weeks. Surely this can't be right?

How about looking at this from another angle? Why not use an employment management company that looks after temps and contractors to take care of this and other employment issues for you? The temp becomes an employee/member of the managment company and is assigned to your client.

Client pays you, management company invoices and you pay them, and management company pays the contractor or temp. Removes all the legal risk of employment rights and statutory payments and they take care of all the payroll issues too. The company also provides liability and indemnity insurance. Contractors can also claim expenses which they cannot as an agency worker and legitamately offset these against their tax and NIs.

We provide this service to many professional contractors, temps and freelancers. If you'd like to know more please give me a call 0870 7654320. We also pay referral rewards to agencies that refer contractors to us - so you can benefit too.
