Hi Chris
You've probably already done so but merely telling a candidate that you ARE going to check CV data has, in my experience, been enough to weed out lies and exaggerations.
After being told that background checks were going to be made, I had one candidate who blurted out that this 'fact' and that 'fact' on his CV was a downright lie! But would he still be considered for the job?!
Erm...no.
